The most football (soccer) Serie A goals scored in a single season by an individual is 36 by Gonzalo Higuaín (Argentina) playing for Napoli during the 2015–16 season from 30 August 2015 to 15 May 2016.

The previous record stood at 35, achieved by Gunnar Nordahl (Sweden) during the 1949–50 season. Going into the final day of the season, Higuaín had scored 33 goals. He managed a hat-trick on the final day to break the record – his final goal a spectacular overhead kick.

The only other player to score 36 goals in the top division of Italian football was Torino's Gino Rossetti in 1928–29. This was year before the Serie A was officially created in a round-robin format, the structure that remains in place today.
