On 4 December 2016, in the grand final of the second ever Rocket League Championship Series Grand Finals in Amsterdam, Netherlands, MockIt Aces and FlipSid3 Tactics took part in a single game that lasted an unprecedented 12 minutes 17 seconds – made all the more nervy for the fact that it was in the actual tournament final. The time included the regulation 5 minutes of normal time and an additional 7 minutes 17 seconds of overtime as the two teams battled to break the deadlock. In the end, FlipSid3 Tactics took home the world title after defeating their rival by four matches to one. They became the second ever Rocket League world champions.
