As of 4 January 2016, there had been 14 movies released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with a further eight films announced. However, the first videogame to be set in this huge crossover franchise was Sega's Iron Man (2008), a videogame adaptation of the 2008 movie of the same name, which was incidentally, also the first film in the MCU franchise. The game saw the actors Robert Downey, Jr., Terrence Howard and Shaun Toub reprise their roles from the movie, although they couldn't save the game from being very poorly received. GameSpot gave it an award for "Worst Use of a Great License".
