Ole Einar Bjørndalen picked up four medals at the 2016 World Championships held on 3–13 March 2016. He won team gold in the 4 x 7.5 km relay, silver in both the 10 km sprint and 12.5 km pursuit and a bronze medal in the 15 km mass start. In 2017, he took bronze in the pursuit.
Since 1997, Bjørndalen has won 20 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze. No other male competitor has won more than 25 medals.
