CD Projekt RED's action-RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015) had picked up an unprecedented seven Golden Joystick gongs across four years. The game was awarded Most Wanted in 2013 and 2014, and won Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Gaming Moment, Ultimate Game of the Year and Studio of the Year (for its developer CD Projekt RED) during its year of release in 2015. The game's second expansion (The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine) also picked up a further four awards in 2016 for Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Gaming Performance (for actor Doug Cockle) and Studio of the Year, making 11 in total. No other game has been as successful in the history of these prestigious awards.
The Golden Joysticks is a major videogames awards event that has been running annually in the UK since 1983, with winners voted for by the public.
Interestingly, CD Projekt RED claim that the title has won more than 800 awards in its lifetime, which would theoretically make it the most decorated videogame in history. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also holds a record for most awards won by a videogame prior to release.
