The longest-running horse racing videogame series is Winning Post, made by Koei Tecmo (JPN). The original Winning Post was released for the short-lived Japan-only Sharp X68000 computer on 28 May 1993, and later ported to the Sega Mega CD and the SNES. The most recent edition of the game is Winning Post 9 2020, which was released for PC, PS4 and Switch on 12 March 2020 – 26 years 289 days later.

Though it has been a long-running and successful game series in Japan, there has only been one attempt to make an English-language localisation – 1995's Winning Post EX for the Sega Saturn. The games see the player taking the role of a trainer/owner, overseeing the breeding and training of horses in their stable, as well as managing their jockeys and staff.
