IO Interactive's Hitman videogame series has been producing new titles with considerable regularity since its debut 2000. However, it wasn't until 2016's episodic outing Hitman that an entry featured a target completely based on a real person. In the game's second episode "World of Tomorrow", 71-year-old Hollywood actor Gary Busey (USA) made a surprise cameo on 21–28 July 2016 as an "elusive target" – a new feature in which players have a one-time-only opportunity to eliminate a character in a limited time-frame. Busey starred in the game after a winning a public vote-off against fellow Hollywood star Gary Cole. The official vote included a promo video in which the two actors campaigned as to why they deserved to be eliminated by Agent 47.

Gary Busey has appeared in more than150 films including Lethal Weapon, Point Break, Entourage and Under Siege.
