Much was made of Evie Frye's starring role in 2015's Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the British assassin becoming the first female protagonist in the main series of Assassin's Creed. However, Aveline de Grandpré was the first playable female in an Assassin's Creed videogame. Born of French and African origin in 18th-century New Orleans, USA, Aveline de Grandpré stars as an assassin in the "side-story" game Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, which was initially released for PS Vita on 30 October 2012.
