The Golden Joysticks is a major videogames awards event that has been running annually in the UK since 1983, with winners voted by the public. At the event hosted in London, UK, on 10 November 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 (Larian Studios, 2023) became the first ever game to collect seven awards in a single year.
Baldur's Gate 3 enjoyed wins in the following categories: Best Storytelling, Best Game Community, Best Visual Design, PC Game of the Year, Studio of the Year, Best Supporting Performer and Ultimate Game of the Year.
The game's closest rival is The Last of Us Part II, which won six Golden Joysticks in 2020: Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Audio, Playstation Game of the Year, Ultimate Game of the Year and Studio of the Year (for Naughty Dog). The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (CD Projekt) picked up five Golden Joysticks in 2015, a feat matched by Overwatch (Blizzard) in 2016 and Elden Ring (FromSoftware) in 2022.
