Although it didn't release exact figures, on 27 October 2016, Nintendo announced that the 3DS titles Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon were the most pre-ordered games on any console in the company's history – roughly a whole month before their worldwide release. A total of 3.5 million people had downloaded the demo – the most downloaded demo for the 3DS, as of that date.
