Novak Djokovic (Serbia) won 30 consecutive Grand Slam singles matches in exactly a year, from his first-round win against Philipp Kohlschreiber at Wimbledon on 29 June 2015 to a second-round defeat of Adrian Mannarino, also at Wimbledon, on 29 June 2016. Djokovic's winning streak included four successive Grand Slam titles (Wimbledon 2015, US Open 2015, Australian Open 2016 and French Open 2016), a feat previously achieved by Australia's Rod Laver in 1969, and his French Open triumph completed a rare "Career Grand Slam" – winning all four major tournaments. "Nole" won 90 sets and lost just 11 during his remarkable run of success.

Djokovic's 30-match winning streak:

7 matches at 2015 Wimbledon (29 June–12 July; 21 sets won, 3 lost)

7 matches at 2015 US Open (31 August–13 September; 21 sets won, 3 lost)

7 matches at 2016 Australian Open (18–31 January; 21 sets won, 3 lost)

7 matches at 2016 French Open (24 May–5 June; 21 sets won, 2 lost)

2 matches at 2016 Wimbledon (27–29 June; 6 sets won, 0 lost)

Totals: 30 matches won; 90 sets won; 11 sets lost

Defeats in the 2015 French Open final (vs. Stan Warwinka) and the third round of Wimbledon 2016 (vs. Sam Querrey) book-ended Djokovic's winning run. Had Djokovic beaten Wawrinka, his 30-match streak would have been extended to 44 matches, having won the 2015 Australian Open before the French Open.

Roger Federer, twice (2005–06 and 2006–07), and Djokovic himself (2011–12) held the previous record with 27 consecutive Grand Slam match wins in the open era.

Don Budge (37 consecutive wins in 1937–38) remains the man to beat for the most Grand Slam wins in a row (all-time).

Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf (1988–89) both won 45 consecutive Grand Slam singles matches (TBC).

Djokovic defeated Roger Federer three times during his 30-match run, including the 2015 Wimbledon and US Open finals. In the other two finals, in Australia and France in 2016, he beat Andy Murray.

Rod Laver's four consecutive Slams (of the 11 he won in total) were achieved in a calendar year, unlike Djokovic. No other male tennis player has won as many as four Slams on the trot. Margaret Court (1969–71) won six successive Grand Slams.

Before the start of the professional/open era in 1968, Maureen Connolly (USA, 1934–69) won the last nine of the 11 Grand Slam tournaments she played, achieving an incredible winning streak of 50 consecutive matches at the US Open (1951–53), Wimbledon (1952–54), Australian Open (1953) and French Open (1953–54). Connolly won 18 sets and lost only one during her nine-tournament winning streak.

Rod Laver (1969), Andre Agassi (1999), Roger Federer (2009) and Rafael Nadal (2010) were the four men to achieve a "Career Grand Slam" in the open era before Djokovic completed the set at the 2016 French Open. Six women have achieved the feat in the open era: Margaret Court (1970), Chris Evert (1982), Martina Navratilova (1983), Steffi Graf (1988), Serena Williams (2003) and Maria Sharapova (2012).
