When Brett D'Oliveira (UK) hit 202 not out for Worcestershire against Glamorgan in Division Two of the County Championship at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, UK, on 8–9 May 2016, he emulated father Damian (UK, b. South Africa, 1960–2014) and grandfather Basil (UK, b. South Africa, 1931–2011) in compiling a first-class double hundred for Worcestershire. Damian's career-best 237 came against Oxford University at The Parks in Oxford, UK, on 25 and 27 May 1991, while Basil's 227 was made against Yorkshire at The Circle in Hull, UK, on 6 and 8 July 1974.

Compton (Denis/Leslie/Patrick/Richard/Nick), Cowdrey (Ernest/Colin/Chris/Graham/Fabian), Hutton (Len/Richard/John/Ben/Oliver) and Pollock (Andrew/Peter/Graeme/Andrew/Anthony/Shaun) are four famous multi-generation families to have played first-class cricket, but none has accomplished at least three generations of double-centurions.

Basil's brother, Ivan, and Brett's brothers, Marcus and Dominic, have also donned their whites, extending the D'Oliveira cricketing family to six members.
