Malinga's Mumbai Indians have won the IPL a record three times, in 2013, 2015 and 2017, and were runners-up in 2010.
Malinga won the Purple Cap for taking the most wickets (28) in the 2011 season of the IPL. Only Dwayne Bravo (32 wickets for Chennai Super Kings in 2013) has taken more wickets in a single IPL season. James Faulkner (Rajasthan Royals) matched Malinga's 28 wickets during the 2013 season.
