The most consecutive boxing world bantamweight title defences is 16 by Orlando Cañizales (USA), who successfully defended his IBF belt from 29 November 1988 to 15 October 1994.
Cañizales remained undefeated in the weight division, his final defence against Sergio Reyes in his hometown of Laredo on the USA-Mexico border. He then moved up a division to Super Bantamweight.
The streak includes one No Contest against South African opponent Derrick Whiteboy in 1993.
Orlando's brother, Gaby Cañizales, was WBA and WBO Bantamweight champion.
