Videogames have inspired a huge number of spin-off comic-book spin-offs. The most prolific comic-book series for an MMO is City of Heroes, inspired by NCSOFT's superhero MMORPG of the same name. The now-defunct game produced two volumes, with 32 individual issues in total. Volume one was published in 2004 and 2005 by Blue King Studios. Volume two was published by Top Cow from 2005 to 2007 and included issues penned by renowned comic-book writer Mark Waid, who had previously written tales for Superman and The Flash for DC Comics, and Captain America and Fantastic Four for Marvel. Other MMOs with prolific comic-book series include rival superhero MMORPG DC Universe Online (26 issues), World of Warcraft (31 issues including prologue, one-shot and Ashbringer spin-off) and Rise of Incarnates (17 issues).
