The most points scored in a snooker match without reply during a ranking event is 547 and was achieved by Stuart Bingham in a match against Sam Baird (both UK) during the first round of the 2016 China Open in Beijing, China, on 28 March 2016.
Bingham was the defending world champion at the time. He won the match 5–3, having trailed 0–2 early on before responding with a record-breaking display.
His run was as follows:
• 106 in the third frame;
• 153 in the fourth frame;
• 135 in the fifth frame;
• 132 in the sixth frame;
• 21 in the seventh frame.
Baird managed to qualify for the World Championships shortly after this defeat, progressing to the second round, where he lost to eventual champion Mark Selby.
The previous record in a ranking event was 494 unanswered points by John Higgins during the 2005 Grand Prix against Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Conversely, it is Ronnie O'Sullivan who holds the absolute record of 556 unanswered points, scored against Ricky Walden in the 2014 Masters Quarter-Final.
