On 24 August 2016, Dale “Bacontotem” Brown made gaming headlines for deliberately achieving the lowest rank possible in Overwatch's Competitive mode, playing with the archer Hanzo. Owing to the multiplayer game's elaborate match-making and skills system, which includes an underdog skill bonus for players of an especially low rating, hitting rock bottom took weeks of strategic playing (and losing) to achieve. The self-dubbed "Overwatch's most popular Hanzo player in the world" told Kotaku: “I was on PC playing at a lower resolution, at a 30-frames-per-second cap, and on a console controller with all the settings shifted down to the absolute minimum so that my response time would be super low and horrible.”
