The most gold medals won at the Olympics for decathlon is 2, achieved by Bob Mathias (USA) in the 1948 London Olympics and the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. This was equalled by Daley Thompson (UK) in the 1980 Moscow Olympics and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, and by Ashton Eaton at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
