According to rankings site Shoryuken, USA's Christopher "NYChrisG" Gonzalez had won 47 tournaments in Capcom's cult fighter (2011), having competed in 82 recognized contests since 2011. However, despite his prowess, NYChrisG was still only second in the world rankings as of 9 August 2016, behind Chile's "Kane Blueriver" aka Nicolas Gonzalez, who had recorded seven first-place victories since May 2015 (eight overall). NYChrisG typically competes in the game using Vergel, Morrigan and the Latverian dictator Doctor Doom.

Another top Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 player Justin Wong (USA) had won 33 tournaments as of 9 August 2016. NYChrisG also held the record for most tournaments competed in.
