Most World Cosplay Championship victories

Prior to the 2016 tournament, the prestigious World Cosplay Championship had been won by Italy and Brazil three times each. Italy were crowned Grand Champion in 2005, 2010 and 2013, with Brazil winning the top accolade in 2006, 2008 and 2011. Perennial hosts Japan have been crowned Grand Champions twice. The World Cosplay Championship is the pinnacle of the week-long cosplay event, the World Cosplay Summit, held in Nagoya, Japan, in which competitors star as characters from Japanese videogames, anime, manga and tokusatsu.

In addition to their gold crowns, Italy have finished in second place three times: in 2011, 2014 and 2015. Brazil finished as runners-up in 2010.
