Often described as the unofficial follow-up to the brooding, monster-inhabited classic Shadow of the Colossus (2005), Fumito Ueda's (Japan) The Last Guardian had been in development for approximately nine years, as of July 2016. The game's development was reportedly hit with so many setbacks that it has had to change intended platforms over that time, from PS3 to PS4. The game first entered the studio in 2007, was officially announced at the E3 2009, resurfaced at E3 2015 and has a confirmed release date of Autumn 2016, published by Sony. A strange and mysterious tale, it follows the adventures of a boy who flees captivity from a castle and befriends a large griffin-like creature named Trico.
