On 20 June 2016, it was reported that Spotify (Sweden) had 100 million active users. The streaming service offers more than 30 million songs and is available in 59 countries around the world. More than 30 million users are paying subscribers.
Mashable's Jason Abbruzzese: "The news is a gentle reminder from Spotify that despite the entry of some major competitors, it remains the leading streaming service in the game. Once the biggest fish in a small pond that included other services like Rhapsody and Deezer, Spotify is now competing with the likes of Apple, Google and maybe even Amazon, which is reportedly working on its own standalone music service."
At the end of 2015, Spotify reported that it had 89 million active users. However, while its user base increases, the number of paid subscribers has remained at 30 million since March 2016.
