Largest GPS drawing on foot in one hour (team)
Age Restriction: Applications for this record title will only be accepted if the applicant is 16 years of age or over.
  • The record is for the largest two-dimensional artwork formed using the memory on Global Positioning System devices on foot (walking and running) within one hour.
  • This record is to be attempted by a team of unlimited size.
  • This record is measured by the distance in kilometres to the nearest 0.01 km, with the equivalent imperial measurement also given in miles (mi).
  • For the purposes of this record, a GPS drawing combines art, travelling and technology, and is a method of drawing that uses GPS to create large-scale artwork. The Global Positioning System receivers determine one's position on the surface of the Earth by trilateration of microwave signals from satellites orbiting at an altitude of 20,200 km. Tracks of a journey can automatically be recorded into the GPS receiver's memory and can subsequently be downloaded onto a computer as a basis for drawing, sculpture or animation.
