The oldest married couple to scuba dive - aggregate age is 173 years 17 days, and was achieved by Minoru Amano (b. 1 November 1936, Japan) and Mitsuko Amano (b. 12 June 1941, Japan), in Ishigaki, Okinawa, Japan, on 31 August 2025.
At the age of 50, Mitsuko obtained her diving license and later moved to Okinawa, where she and her husband now enjoy diving together. Grateful for their health and the ability to share this activity, they decided to apply for a Guinness World Record as a lasting memory. On the day of the challenge, Minoru and Mitsuko went diving with their daughter and grandchild.
