The longest videogame marathon playing a Pokemon game is 36 hr 12 sec, and was achieved by Cody Harbidge (Canada) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on 17 June 2021.

Cody decided to attempt the record on his birthday while raising money for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation as it's a place he has a personal connection to. Cody says "It was a win-win situation for myself and the sick kids who depend on the generous donations and events such as the one I was attempting".

On the day of the event, Cody conducted the attempt from his living room and transformed the space into the ultimate streaming setup to play Pokemon Shield for 36 hours. During the event, he had over 900 views online and managed to raise £1,174 GBP ($2,000 CAD).

Cody says "This was an amazing experience and providing this goes through, I plan on attempting more records and networking with businesses for more outreach. Thank you for the opportunity!"
