The heaviest whip cracked is 21.18 kg (46.69 lb) and was achieved by Adam Winrich (USA) in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, on 5 July 2022
Adam reclaimed this title, having previously achieved the record in September 2021 but losing his record to another challenger in January 2022.
"I didn't really know that I had the skill to crack a 46 pound whip until my father finished welding the steel together. But because I had spent so much time practicing with my 27 pound whip, I was able to crack the heavier whip the day we made it. I initially chose this skill last year because it was a category that hadn't been attempted before. I had seen videos of heavy chain whips in China, and I knew if I built one heavy enough, I could use it to achieve this record."
To train for this record, Adam practiced with his 27 pound whip every week for several months to develop his arm and core strength. "I have been cracking whips for most of my life. Trying to crack such heavy whips was a new and exciting challenge. The training was the most difficult in the beginning because I had never used a whip this heavy before. But after a few weeks my body became used to it. The biggest challenge on the day was my worry that I wouldn't be able to crack the whip right after having it weighed. Even with as much as I trained, cracking a 46 pound whip is not easy."
"Being a Guinness World Records title holder means a lot to me. I have been cracking whips most of my life, and setting a Guinness World Record title with a whip is the greatest achievement of my whip cracking career."
