There were three "lifelike" game modes in Alpine Ski – a 1981 coin-op from Taito. These were "Down Hill Skiing", "Slalom Racing" and "Ski Jump Competition". Each one is essentially an obstacle course completed against the clock, with trees, snowmobiles and other skiers standing in the way of your high score. In addition to the basic left and right movement, one button controlled the speed of descent. Only the best players could progress to the Slalom and then finally the Ski Jump.
