Inspired by the 1987 Games Workshop board game of the same name, the Blood Bowl videogame has sold 240,000 copies worldwide since its launch in 2009. Cyanide Studios adapted this brutal variation of American football for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS, adding the choice of real-time gameplay to what was originally a turn-based idea. Two teams comprising Elves, Humans, Orcs and Goblins can assault each other with weapons while trying to score. A sequel was received with warm critical acclaim for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in September 2015.
