Marlon Samuels (Jamaica) scored 85 not out for the West Indies against England in the final of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament, contested at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India, on 3 April.

Samuels eclipsed his own World Twenty20 final record, set in 2012 when he scored 78 runs off 56 balls in a match-winning knock against tournament hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Samuels' 66-ball innings, which included nine fours and two sixes, helped the Windies reach their target of 156 with two balls to spare, after four consecutive sixes by Carlos Brathwaite in the last over.

The West Indies are the first team to win the World Twenty20 tournament twice (2012 and 2016).

The highest individual score in any World Twenty20 match is 123, achieved by Brendon McCullum for New Zealand against Bangladesh at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka on 21 September 2012. The ICC World Twenty20 was first held in 2007.
