Age Restriction: Applications for this record title will only be accepted if the applicant is 16 years of age or over.
  • This record is for the most burpees done in one minute while holding a 10 kg (22 lb) medicine ball.
  • This record is to be attempted by an individual.
  • This record is to be measured by the number of burpees correctly completed.
  • For the purposes of this record, one burpee consists of a squat thrust with a vertical jump while holding a 10 kilogram medicine ball. It must be performed as follows: In the start position the body must be straight, i.e. no bending at the knees or waist. The original position of the feet should be behind a line on the ground, line X, at right angles to the participant. A second line, line Y, should be drawn on the ground parallel to line X and beneath the hips of the competitor. The distance between X and Y must be a minimum of one half of the height of the participant. (For example, if he or she measures 1.80m, then the distance between X and Y should be 90 cm.) Both hands should hold onto the medicine ball and should not touch the ground. Arms must both be completely straight when the participant is in the start position. The competitor begins by doing a push-up with the body completely straight and the chest arriving within 3 inches of the medicine ball. The feet should then, in one movement, travel to line Y. The competitor should then jump off the ground with neither hands nor feet touching, raising both arms above the head while jumping and holding the medicine ball with both hands. The competitor then returns to the same position on the ground. The feet are returned in a single movement to the original position that is, behind X.
