Super Mario Maker even has its own system of "World Records", which documents the number of fastest clear times a player achieves when navigating user-created levels. As of 22 February 2018, US gamer "SlipStream" reigned supreme with a total of 27,511 Super Mario Maker World Records. However, Japanese player "Hawk", who previously held SlipStream’s record, was running a close second with 26,619 World Records of his own. As a measure of the sort of commitment required to set such records in Super Mario Maker, SlipStream had cleared 88,063 courses and, in the process, lost 343,612 lives.
