CrossFire for PC, the online-only tactical shooter from South Korean developer Smilegate, had approximately 900 million registered players worldwide as of October 2017. First launched in Korea in early 2007, by 2013 it became the Top Earning free-to-play game of that year. Part of its success is likely owing to comparatively low system requirements, although it is also praised for its smooth gameplay across traditional modes that include "Deathmatch" and "Elimination".
