The first soccer game to feature female players was Mia Hamm 64 Soccer, which was released by SouthPeak for the N64 in November 2000. The game was essentially Michael Owen's WLS 2000 THQ) rebranded and packaged exclusively for the US market. The game featured its eponymous US soccer star Mia Hamm on the cover. The game(s) were developed by British studio Silicon Dreams, who interestingly went on to include female players in its Dreamcast game UEFA Dream Soccer, which was released one month later in December 2000.
