According to Nielsen BookScan's global data, no other children's fiction writer sold more books in 2015 than Diary of a Wimpy Kid creator Jeff Kinney (USA). Across the year, an estimated 5,530,754 of his books were sold.

The lion's share of Kinney's sales came from the release of the 10th instalment in his phenomenally popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Old School, which was the best-selling children's fiction title of the year with estimated 2,208,855 copies sold.

The second-most popular children's author was Cat in the Hat creator Dr Seuss (aka Theodor Seuss Geisel, 1904–91, USA) with 4,414,350 sales, and in third was Gruffalo writer Julia Donaldson (UK), who across all her books accrued 3,036,037 sales.
