The best-selling RPG (role playing game) series is Pokémon, developed by Game Freak (JPN) and published by Nintendo. The first games in the series (Pocket Monsters Red and Green) were released for the Nintendo Game Boy in Japan on 27 February 1996. Since then, Pokémon has made an appearance on every Nintendo console. As of 12 November 2021, videogames in the Pokémon series have sold 380 million units worldwide.
