William Shakespeare's plays are full of long speeches, but the longest of them all is given to Romeo's friend Mercutio, who has 43 lines to say on the subject of dreams in Act 1, scene 4 (lines 57–99) of Romeo and Juliet. The speech would have been longer, but Romeo cuts him off mid-sentence by saying, "Peace, peace, Mercutio, peace! Thou talk'st of nothing."
