On 21 July 2017, US gamer “Neurotaku” braved Shadow of Colossus's forbidden land to ascend the speed-running leaderboard with a final any% time of 1 hour 27 minutes 55 seconds – as verified by Speedrun.com. The run inched out the previous record holder, Shirapon, who had completed the action-adventure title in 1 hour 28 minutes 14 seconds in September 2016. The game was played on PlayStation 3.
