Since 2004, EA has predicted the outcome of each year’s Super Bowl by simulating the match in advance through the latest Madden videogame. Ahead of the Super Bowl XLIX on 1 February 2015, Madden NFL 15 correctly predicted a final 28–24 victory for the New England Patriots against rivals Seattle Seahawks.
Allowing for a margin of 10 yards, the simulation made six other major correct predictions in the game including a third period score of 24–14 to the Seahawks, and Tom Brady passing for four touchdowns across 335 yards. The Patriot quarterback actually threw for 328 yards in the real match – incredibly, a difference of just 7 yards!
