Of Pluto’s five known moons, the four smallest all rotate chaotically. This means they tumble instead of rotating neatly along one axis.
The four small moons of Pluto are named Nix, Hydra, Kerberos and Styx. They were discovered using the Hubble Space Telescope in 2005, 2005, 2011 and 2012 respectively. Saturn's small moon Hyperion is the only other known chaotically rotating moon in the Solar System. The nature of this chaotic rotation was discovered using observations from the New Horizons spacecraft and the Hubble Space Telescope.
