On 14 December 2015, the Los Angeles premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (USA) took place across a quarter-mile stretch of the historic Hollywood Boulevard, closing two city blocks to traffic. While food was served to around 3,500 invited guests, the screening itself was spread across three separate venues – the THCL Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre and Disney’s restored El Capitan – with a combined capacity of 6,700 seats.
Although not the largest audience ever assembled for a film premiere globally, this is still the biggest theatrical premiere ever staged in Hollywood.
