Adele’s (UK, b. Adele Adkins) "Hello", uploaded to YouTube on 22 October 2015, reached 1 billion views on 17 January 2016 - just 87 days later. This represents the fastest time for a video to attract 1 billion views since 21 December 2012, when South Korean pop sensation PSY's "Gangnam Style" became the first video to reach the milestone after 158 days.


The announcement was made on 19 January 2016 in a tweet from XL Recordings, Adele's record label.

"Hello" received 27.7 million views in the first 24 hours after it was uploaded to YouTube on 22 October 2015.

As of 4 May 2018, "Hello" had attracted 2,302,355,558 views and 13 million likes. It was the 13th most watched video on YouTube - and the 12th most watched music video - as of the same date, with Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” (5,104,999,547), Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” (3,541,556,853) and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” (3,482,794,979) filling the top three places.
