The youngest organ donor is Hope Lee of Newmarket, UK, who donated her kidneys and liver cells just 74 minutes after she was born on 24 November 2015.

Hope Lee suffered from anencephaly, a condition that prevented the full development of her skull, and which normally causes the death of the baby either before the birth, or just after. Hope’s parents, Emma and Drew Lee, discovered her conditions with a pre-birth scan; they decided to continue the pregnancy so that baby Hope could donate the organs. Together with Hope, her healthy twin brother Josh was also born.

The previous youngest donor was Teddy Houlston, who lived for just 100 minutes.
