While FIFA and PES continue to push soccer sims through new realms of processing power, the longest-running annual videogame soccer tournament is devoted to Dino Dini's 1990 top-down classic Kick Off 2. Since 2001, an international Kick Off 2 World Cup has taken place in Europe every year, making for 15 tournaments in total. The most recent tournament was hosted in a former chocolate factory in Dublin, Ireland on 7–8 November 2015, with more than 40 players signed up to compete.
Ahead of the 2015 tournament, the most successful Kick Off 2 World Cup player was Gianni Torchio (Italy) with four tournament victories. He had also finished second three times and third two times, giving him a total of nine medals.
