The first album to register 1 billion filtered streams on Spotify in a single week was Taylor Swift’s (USA) The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD). Including the 16 tracks on the standard release (836,860,218 streams) combined with the 15 tracks on the double-album edition (sub-titled The Anthology; 336,267,007 streams), TTPD posted an astonishing 1,173,127,225 plays on Spotify for the week ending 25 April 2024 – a figure greater than the populations of all but two countries in the world (India and China).
Comparing standard versions alone, however, TTPD’s 16-track total of 836,860,218 streams on 19–25 April 2024 – led by “Fortnight” with 102,878,399 – comes up short against Swift’s follow-up album, The Life of a Showgirl, whose 12 tracks amassed 887,338,234 streams – led by “The Fate of Ophelia” with 128,896,137 – on 3–9 October 2025.
All 31 songs from TTPD made the top 70 of Spotify’s “Weekly Top Songs Global” chart for the week ending 25 April 2024, propped up by The Anthology's “Robin” at No.68 with a still-sizeable 15,584,154 streams.
The 20 tracks on the 3am Edition of Midnights, another of Swift’s former "one week" record holders, logged 776,481,256 streams on Spotify on 21–27 October 2022.
