Mobile soccer RPG New Star Soccer (2012) fought off competition from the likes of FIFA 13, F1 2012 and Forza Horizon to win the sports videogame BAFTA in 2013, a feat made all the remarkable by the fact it was developed by one man – Simon Read (UK). Past and future winners in the category have included FIFA 14 (EA Sports), OlliOlli (Roll7), F1 2010 (Codemasters), FIFA 10 (EA Sports), Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Konami) and Wii Sports (Nintendo).
The iteration of New Star Soccer that won the award was the mobile version for iOS and Android. Subsequent releases in the ongoing series have employed extra manpower, but this particular version was made by just one man.
