The fastest 1 km ice swim under International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) regulations by a male swimmer is 11 minutes 24.20 seconds, achieved by Andreas Waschburger (Germany) on 3 February 2024 at the 1st IISA European Championship in Oradea, Romania.
Waschburger also claimed the 500 m record at the same event with a time of 5 minutes 32.72 seconds.
His compatriot Alisa Fatum set new marks for the fastest female 1 km and 500 m discipline in Oradea: 12 minutes 41.35 seconds and 6 minutes 7.32 seconds, respectively. Both of these surpassed her own previous records.
