The fastest 1 km ice swim under International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) regulations by a female swimmer is 12 minutes 41.35 seconds, achieved by Alisa Fatum (Germany) on 3 February 2024 at the 1st IISA European Championship in Oradea, Romania.


This bettered her own record of 12 minutes 46.04 seconds, set on 14 January 2023 at the 5th Ice Swimming World Championships in Samoëns, France.

Fatum also claimed the 500 m record in Oradea with a time of 6 minutes 7.32 seconds.

Her compatriot Andreas Waschburger set new marks for the fastest male 1 km and 500 m discipline in Oradea: 11 minutes 24.20 seconds and 5 minutes 32.72 seconds, respectively.
