The youngest winner of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships women's senior race is Zola Budd (UK, b. 26 May 1966), who was aged just 18 years 302 days when she won the gold medal in Lisbon, Portugal, on 24 March 1985.

Budd's record has stood for 30 years.

In 2015, Kenyan runner Agnes Tirop became the second-youngest winner ever – aged 19 years 156 days when she won in Guiyang, China, on 28 March 2015. Tirop won Kenya's 300th IAAF World Cross Country Championships medal in the process.
