The world’s largest maze created from yew trees is the 1.48-acre maze at Longleat House in Horningsham, UK, which also has 1.69 miles of pathway. The highly complicated design, first laid out by Greg Bright in 1975, has multiple dead ends and six raised bridges, and is difficult enough to take up to 90 minutes to navigate. For those who give up hope, several “lift if lost” direction panels are installed, while some visitors have been known to use their smartphone's GPS system to help find their way. Twice a year six gardeners use petrol-powered hedge trimmers for over a month to maintain the 2.5-m-high yew hedges.

Longleat House is home to the Seventh Marquess of Bath, and is renowned as one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain.
