The most consecutive wins of The Times National Crossword Championships (TTNCC; inaugurated 1970) is 10 by Mark Goodliffe (UK, b. 1965), who took home the first prize between 2008 and 2017.

Finance director Goodliffe also holds the record for most TTNCC wins, with a total of 12 victories. In addition to his record-setting winning streak between 2008 and 2017, he also triumphed in 1999 and 2019. As well as being a very successful solver in competition, he is also highly regarded as a crossword setter. Under the pseudonym "Mr Magoo", he has compiled crosswords for The Magpie puzzle magazine (of which he is the co-editor), The Listener, The Guardian and The Spectator, among other publications.

Beyond crosswords, Goodliffe also regularly reaches the final of The Times Sudoku Championship, and won it in 2014. He has also represented the UK in the World Sudoku Championships since 2013.

Established in 1970, The Times National Crossword Championships is an elite annual crossword competition that, in its current incarnation, requires solvers to quickly and accurately complete three 15 x 15 grids. Each contest is generally attended by 200 solvers and the first-place prize is £1,000.
